Top 15 Movies in 2025

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome to the second and last part of countdown of movies of the year.

Last time, I did the countdown of the WORST movies in 2025 from disappointment to absolute unwatchable to be stay away. But if you guys missed it, here’s the link and il be waiting for you.

You’re good? Okay, lets carrying on. So in today’s countdown, lets looking at the movies with positive notes, ranging from okay, all the way to the best or even my new favorite for rewatching(?). But as always, these are MY picks that I’ve watched, so don’t get too disappointed if I miss some.

For this list, I’ve gathered 15 movies in my experience. Like WOW, that might be the biggest number in my experience of Countdown. Not as big as some of my shelved countdown plans, but still, damn…! However, even when I looking back, some movies that I may have changed my feeling to either put higher or lower, but again, its only my pick for my past experience til today (as im writing this).

So, lets looking back in positive way, because this is my “Top 15 Movies in 2025”

Lets go, shall we?

Number 15: Elio

Lets start off with Disney/Pixar’s original film that they would hoped to be a big deal, but it didn’t go that wall as a disappointing result at the box-office that many people believe “Sequel = Hits”, which I disagree, its because I find this movie to be… Underwhelming.

At first when I posted my review of Elio, I thought its an above average film at best for Pixar. But looking back now, my feeling has been changed that I find it to be not that good from my view.

Sure, they did the best for the message about social isolation from struggling childhood, a well-credited voice acting and even well crafted, creative, beautiful and colorful animation they’ve done, I like how that made aliens to be look unique and somewhat fascinating, especially most of them are inspired from sea creatures, and even a shapeshifting computer.

But the reason why its lower on this list, is that, while it looks good, but the writing is the weakest part for being either unoriginal or forgettable writing, some jokes are bellow, while some characters are also okay, but could’ve been better how to execute to give some character development more than just curious to see a human like Elio. And not to mention, the third act is also suffered from cliché for being yet another plot twist, though not gonna spoil. It feels just like another film about a kid interacting non-human entity, but in space. I mean, it looks like it could’ve been potential, but didn’t do well what I was expecting, even Disney themselves didn’t seem to care about it either.

I know lot of you are upset that I put on lower list, but again, its just my own though to looking back. I mean I love Pixar since my childhood, but between Inside Out 2 and then this, it feels like Pixar are having a roller coaster from good to bad. Il cross my fingers for upcoming Hoppers (as im writing this).

Number 14: The Bad Guys 2

Aka: Copy-Paste The Bad Guys… Sort of…

I know its a weird way to start to calling it as a copy-paste from the first movie, cause it play like the first movie, they have a promising story about our titular group, but they both suffered the same problematic writing for clichés and lenient towards action and comedy. But the difference is that its all about our group trying to turning themselves around, but uneasy due to their criminal records, leaving a choice to either clear their names or going back as baddies, along with having an unusual rivalry with “The Phantom Bandits”, but for the latter, it feels like we forgot about them, let along with cheap plot twist.

Though, while I like the concept about The Bad Guys trying to turning their lives around with not-so good execution, at least it has a fun action scenes in fast-paste and of course, got crazier than before, though I enjoy some characters and some humors are mixed with chuckle worthy, but some not really.

It may not be a greater sequel, but at least il give credit that its a slightly improvement over the first one, even if its on my 14th spot.

Number 13: KPop Demon Hunters

Fun fact: Its the last Netflix movie I’ve ever watched before I unsubscribing it based on Netflix’s corruption setup on WB’s bidding war, but its a long story.

Anyway, after months that I missed, I’ve heard KPop Demon Hunters became the most talked about animated film on Netflix thanks for the setting of KPop and Korean mythology, which I will admitted, its a nice combination what they pulled. The animation looks pretty good in Sony’s animated film’s current standard, some characters are enjoyable, some jokes are funny, the writing and message is good and the songs, while im not a fan of KPop, they’re actually pretty nice too.

Even though its the most talked about film on Netflix, but the movie is suffered by numerous flaws and kind of ruined the potential like pacing problems, the direction is a mess, the animation where the characters are singing just didn’t match the emotion and of course, the plothole with a twist just completely ruined the story and even the third act that left me a lot of questions. And not to mention, what was the point to be released on Netflix when it looks like a big budget film? What’s Sony’s excuses??

Aw well, even though this movie is good to looking back, but it only it would’ve been so higher if the hype could’ve gone better.

Number 12: The Running Man 2025

Its quite surprising that we have a new version based on Stephen King’s story that its actually… Better than the 1987 version.

Its a straight forward life-threatening survival challenge from reality show in order to win a big money in dystopian world with high tech, rich authoritarian city bigger than the low life and class citizens to either live or die. Even though it feels like we’ve or its been done before, but keep in mind, its based on the novel from 1982. Which I will say, its a pretty good presentation and its certainly improvement for a second take on King’s 11th novel, especially with better effects and the setting. Especially with a harsh debate whether or if its just a show or is it a setup.

Though while its an improvement over the 87 version, but its nowhere perfect with couple of flaws like some lackluster development that we like to see some innocent people helping out our main protagonist for shortcut or stopping the security hunters. Plus, even when the action scenes are great, im disappointed we never get some good shoot’em ups, because most of which are missing bullets or even Ben Richards never uses a gun til the third act. But of course, the plot twist isn’t helping either when it comes to the dark truth.

Even its an improvement over the 87 that il give a credit what they’re trying something, but its rather flawed from various executions (no pun intended).

Number 11: The Toxic Avenger 2023(25)

Okay, I might be cheating to putting it on the list that it came out two years, but it was premiered in festival, and their wide-release wouldn’t be til two years later, which I always called the wide-release films like this as part of movies in 2025, but I digress.

Its quite unusual to do a remake based on B movies from the 80s, which I think we like to see some of these unlike Disney’s sorry ass live action remake over animated classic films, but im getting ahead of myself.

When it comes this one like The Toxic Avenger, its pretty unlikely, but considering we have plenty of superhero films out there, they’re jumping on a bandwagon. But this time, its to bring it back to the old root, because back then after the original one from 1984, Toxie had been treated as a family friendly superhero, which is pretty bizarre after the first one is bloody and messy in B movie fashion, kinda like Robocop, but less budget.

Its a pretty nice, fun, and good’ol low budget trash with blood and gore fashion with practical effects, it has a very surprising casting choice to have Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood and couple other actors and ridiculous plot about corruption in the town and businesses for taking our main protagonist in revenge.

While its crazily enjoyable film, but the reason why its not on Top 10, is that, despite the crazy stuff they brought it it would’ve been better with jokes can be good, but without some immature ones like pissing joke, some lackluster development that it focused too much on Toxie and while it has an insane setting, but it kind of feels like s standard unlikely hero story.

Its not greater remake, but at least il give credit what they’re trying to bringing trashy movie back to modern viewers, even if I put it outside of Top 10.

Number 10: The Naked Gun

After decades, it seems that somebody decided to make a long waited sequel from what we’ve heard, but turning it into a legacy sequel.

Its pretty surprising for what we’ve seen a comedy movie with veteran actors like Liam Neeson and even Pamela Anderson, which I think they have a fun work of their performance, ranging from Liam’s Frank Jr being kind of similar to his late father, but bumbling and troublemaking moments, and Pam’s Beth is being plays like a mix of damsel in distress and femme fatal based on her vengeance of her brother’s death, and then pulled some humorous moment that il give credit. Like Toxie, the movie has a ridiculous plot about the villain trying to brainwash people into chaos to becoming a “Founding Father” like a sense of God Complex, but at least it has a very nice writing what they’re bringing, especially with the humors ad the actions

However, the reason why its in lower spot of Top 10, is that, while its a welcome return for nostalgia fans of OG The Naked Gun (like me), I just wish if they could’ve give us a proper familiar like humors to pay homage from three Naked Gun movies, though some jokes, while they’re fun, but there are some just didn’t work, and the writing aren’t greater due to being predictable and cliché.

Its nowhere perfect as the vert first The Naked Gun, but at least il give credit what they’re trying to bring back that we all know and love.

Number 9: The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

Its been a VERY long time we’ve never have a Looney Tunes movie on the big screen, but more specifically, a fully animated movie than a hybrid film like Space Jam or Back in Action.

It plays more of a parody of classic alien invasion movies about our unlikely heroes like Porky Pig and Daffy Duck trying to save the world from menacing alien (so we think) with gums to turning people into mindless zombies, basically a mix of “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, “The Invasion of Body Snatcher”, which while it a nice homage, but I just wish if the writing could’ve gone better, which it probably explains why the humors are the main focus, which I will admit, I have good laugh to watching, kind of feel like I have a nostalgia when I remember back when I watched Looney Tunes/Marry Melodies when I was a kid. Along with a nice heart warming moments for a movie, even the animation is pretty nice, though its mainly on “Looney Tunes’ Cartoons” (2020 – 2024).

While its a pretty fun film, but like I said, the writing isn’t great, since the story is kind of out of focus, due to being lenient on humors, but like before, some jokes can work or not, and some of the use of CG just didn’t go that well fitting. Though its a shame that I just wish WB should’ve treating this one like a big deal, which im guessing they treated this as an appetizer compares to some other films out there like Weapons and others will be on my list.

Although, at least WB were opened and gave appreciation to Ketchup Entertainment for this movie, and now we have an upcoming “Coyote vs ACME” for second chance after being canned, lets go…!

Number 8: Thunderbolts (aka The New Avengers)

After James Gunn bowed out into DC Studios as co-CEO, it seems that Marvel Studio are trying to keep this Marvel version of Suicide Squad on the flow and its… Fine for say the least for looking back.

Its rather a pretty nice take on anti-heroes or former villains working together about the secret weapon that has been hidden for so long from O.X.E., according to the CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, even if its about to get fishy about CIA’s setup. Though il give credit to have a new guys for working together like Ghost, Yelena Belova and U.S. Agent. Even the veterans joining in like Red Guardian and everyone’s favorite old Cap’s pal, Winter Soldier (aka Bucky Barnes). Even the action scenes are pretty cool that some shots are done with real stunts, like when Yelena does a leap of faith from Merdeka 118 from Malaysia, which is pretty impressive that they pulled life risking stunt like Tom Cruise. But of course, it has a very nice message about isolation problem as either a new hero or anti-hero.

However, the reason why its lower in Top 10, is that, while its pretty good, but im pretty sure this movie has been treated like an appetizer before we have one film (which we’ll get to), while the writing is good, but it might have some flaws like not-so great writing, dark problem from cinematography, some characters could’ve come back a little more before this movie like Ghost for example, there are some elements are cliché and the third act is flipping all over the place that left me confused, at as if they’re trying to be complex, but poorly executed.

Even though they tried, but again, they treated it as an appetizer and that leads us to the next entry.

Number 7: The Fantastic Four: First Steps

After years that we had an okay F4 movie in 2005 and the embarrassing reboot in 2015, we finally got a long-waited MCU take on this group and they did not disappoint us (for the most part).

The movie treats as a family journey, but as superheroes in Earth-828, which is pretty good to take a break from MCU version of Earth-616, giving us a journey to a whole new universe, which I really like for their change, especially for this world in retrofuture style compare to Earth-616 (or should I say, OUR world?). Like I said before it wasn’t just about the heroes, it plays more like a family journey as a group 4 years after their space mission and got contacted by cosmic rays, since its sort of focus on Reed Richards and Sue Storm for their potential son, and at the same time, save the Earth from menacing giant being Galactus from female Silver Surfer’s warning. But even outside of Earth, the space journey is fascinating and colorful for its presentation and the action scenes are cool, even if its rather… Minimal for either montage, outside of Earth or the battle with Galactus.

Which brings the reason why its not on top 5, the movie is rather short less than 2 hours long, which I wish they could’ve extend that we like to hear more developments like Earth-828’s world building and even more actions. Not to mention, while the designs are look good, but there are some just didn’t mesh, like they added female Silver Surfer named Shalla-Bal instead of the original one named Norrin Radd, and the writing maybe good, but predictable at best.

It may not be perfect, but in fairness, at least we have a BETTER Fantastic 4 movie.

Number 6: Deathstalker 2025

While the remake of The Toxic Avenger is a good one to give it a shot to modern viewers, but I think this one is a better remake that I actually liked.

After their Kickstarter Campaign was success, it seems that would be a good opportunity to be another one of those B Movie remakes, and while its completely different compared to four previous Deathstalker movies, but its actually pretty nice than being a copy-paste or shot-for-shot. Rather than being a typical sword and sorcery of barbarian hero killing monsters for the sake of saving ladies, this one is more about lone former knight on his journey before getting cursed by an amulet from the evil necromancer that he’s forced to teaming up with wizard and a thief for not just stop the evil threat and learning deep from the rabbit hole. But even with low budget film, it looks pretty good what they’ve accomplished with beautiful view, well done practical designs and effects, nice characters and even fun action scenes with blood and gore.

While its probably the best B movie I’ve watched, but its nowhere perfect for couple of reasons why its not on Top 5, such as some hit or miss jokes that it has some chuckle moments, but some just didn’t work, some developments can be a bit lacking, and its kind of cheesy, but more like a good kind of cheese, even if some part of writing is flawed.

It may not be talked about, but I think this one deserves attention as my underrated pick to be in the list.

Number 5: Karate Kid: Legends

Even though I never watched every Karate Kid movies, I did watched the first film and the first few episodes of Cobra Kai, but out of movies for my limited experience, I think this one is underrated.

The reason why im calling it underrated, is that this one of the rare idea if you combine the original and the remake together for this movie, its pretty unheard, but I like that idea, which is pretty fun as a form of crossover where two martial art styles, even though the remake from what I’ve heard, its very loose that it feels more of a Kung fu than Karate like the original. For the story, it feels almost like the original where the main kid gets bullied and learned martial arts as a self-defense, funny enough, the main kid has already trained before flew to New York, rather than California. The martial arts in action scenes are pretty good how they pulled in training and learning both Kung Fu and Karate, especially its nice to see Daniel LaRusso meets Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han.

However, even though its a fun movie, but its not as fresh as the original, which even if it feels like a copy-paste plot from the original (but with a twist, which il give credit what they’re trying), but it feels pretty cliché, some cheesy effects, and the main villain felt like he’s absent compared when Cobra Kai used to be the baddies before the changing heart in the show.

It maybe felt like its been overdone, at least they tried their best for wax off wax on.

Number 4: F1 the movie

As a fan of F1, I was hoping this could be a HUGE gamble to be something original in the world of F1, even since I love Rush (2013), though the latter is based on F1’s iconic rivalry.

At first, it would be ridiculous making a movie in F1 would be a challenge to learning about F1, since when Sly Stallone tried to make a movie about F1 in the 90s, he got rejected and switched to CART, but lets just say, F1 dodged the bullets for good reason, but this one, we finally got it. Rather than focusing on the underdog story who wants to entering F1 for the dreams, this one focuses on veteran nomad racer who’s tasked to coming back to F1 for the help of fictional team APX GP, which I find it unexpected what I was wishing for, but understandable. However, despite the plot, since this is about F1, its pretty nice to see actors like Brad Pitt and Damson Idris sit in open-wheel cars for their training and doing the racing each others with real F1 drivers, which is pretty impressive how they pulled, learning and some of the amount of risk without screwing up at any F1 cars, especially the racing are being scripted, because hey, its the movie, since they filmed in Friday practice sessions, not filmed in feature racing in Sunday. Even the placements of cameras are pretty good from various angles and the perspective from helmet cam.

Despite their best effort for their film productions, training and actions, the reason why it didn’t make in the podium, is that, despite the story is good, but the writing is rather dumb on various moments like when Sonny Hayes’s origin from being captivating driver to chaotic man for finding jobs, gambling and now “racer for hire”, some crashes are over the top and exaggerated (despite some crashes are referenced), some rules are violated that they either fined or got away with it, and some parts are very cliché like a driver in relationship with non-driver and bitter relationship with teammates.

Its not the best take on F1, but at least il give credit what they’re trying for marketing, not just F1 fans, but for American audiences, ever since Liberty Media owned F1. And now all the sudden they’re about to developing a sequel…?!

Number 3: Novocaine

As a reviewer, im always have a support to one of my favorite actors, Jack Quaid, ever since risen up from The Boys, Star Trek: Lower Deck and my favorite, My Adventures with Superman. When it comes to movies, he’s mostly being cast as a minor or secondary, but this one, its worth of giving him a shot as a main role.

Its a fun action movie with humors, along with unique and creative ways from the camera angles, the setups, some good jokes and of course an appreciation performance like the aforementioned Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson and Jacob Batalon. And course, having a main character with a rare condition without feel the pain in action scenes are pretty rare idea, but pretty fun, kind of like a real life superhero, but risky and bloody.

While I enjoy this movie, its nowhere perfect when it comes to the writing. While I enjoy the character developments with chemistry, some jokes and creative actions, but th writing could’ve gone better with some of lackluster developments and the plot feels more Jack Quaid in Die Hard due to somewhat similar plot, a bank robber who steal goods and kidnapping love interest in hostage.

Even though its flawed, but I enjoy this movie, not just for the creativity, but also for the support to Jack Quaid to be on the 3rd spot on my list.

Number 2: Zootopia 2

Wow, that’s coincidence to put number 2 within number 2, eh?

Its safe to say that 2025 was an uneasy year for Disney, such as release their live-action remakes are pissing off their own childhood fans (myself included), the aforementioned disappointment of Elio, the MCU films had one bellow film, an okay film and F4 is their saving grace, and Bob Iger seems to be desperate to keep Disney in glory, which he should’ve known that this is 2025 not 2005. But the Only Saving grace for their animated films, is without a doubt, Zootopia 2.

After decade for giving us their best movie of anthropomorphic animals in the city with the risky use of social commentary, Disney finally gave us the sequel to bringing Judy and Nick back in business for their police journey for the first time since the ending. This time, its about figuring out what happened to the missing species like reptiles, while at the same time, in the most obvious cliché, being falsely framed by their cops. Whereas the first Zootopia is all about prejudice against predators, this one is about oligarchy and systemic racism, where mobs are using money and power to corrupt the cops and wiping out other races like reptiles as the so-called “menace to the society”, until we found out the secrets. Which is is pretty interesting idea for their messages in their social commentary, and it feels like its predicting to what we have in USA. The animation is very good as always to make it brighter, colorful and action impact, along with enjoyable characters with enjoyable voice acting.

Even though its a pretty good film, but that doesn’t mean its a perfect film, cause it suffered with quick pace from the first act (I understand they wanna go out with a Bang, but still), the false fugitive plot is been overdone like we’ve seen that before, and we just wish we want more characters on-screen, rather than overly focus on Judy and Nick, despite the chemistry between of two are pretty good for the writing, still, we just wish we want more characters to develop what we like, let along with a long list of familiar voice actors.

While its fun to have a welcome return to Zootopia, but its not as perfect as the first tone. In fairness, its more Disney’s only best film they ever had, and, im my own experience, the best animated film of the year. No offense to either Ne Zha 2, a new Wallace and Gromit film and couple others if I forgot.

And now for my Number 1 Movie of the year 2025 goes to…

Number 1: Superman 2025

Sure, I know some say that its pretty good to bring Superman back to the old root, but not perfect, which I understand that, but then again, this is my experience of which movies that I like, no better yet, for which one is my new favorite, and this one happens to be the latter.

After DCEU (or Snyderverse) came out like a crap storm with flops, after flops, after flops, it became very clear that DC in cinema needs a wake-up call for not just shake-up, but also going with a reboot-ish due to borrow some elements from DCEU, let along with new bosses like James Gunn and Peter Safran in DC Studios to shaking up in the reboot-ish cinematic universe. And after brought us Creature Commandos, we finally got a long waited new Superman movie and its actually an enjoyable film.

Rather do the same plot of Superman’s origin to learning who he is to helping the people of Earth, here its about Superman tries to connect humanity for his motto to “fight for truth and justice”, even if he’s nowhere perfect to dealing with like reception and corruption from arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. Though odd, but pretty nice to having humans like Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen trying to helping Superman to clear his name, let along with meeting the group of heroes “Justice Gang”, which again, even though Superman is a powerful being from Krypton thanks to yellow sun, he’s nowhere perfect to dealing with, cause anyone always said, “nobody’s perfect”. Of course the action scenes are pretty good to watch what we like to see, gone those Superman busy fighting baddies while watching people suffering in DCEU, or killing villains.

While I enjoy this movie, but like Zootopia 2, its nowhere 100% perfect from flaws like Superman’s costume, while it looks good to be old school, but could’ve gone perfect to be retro then mix between classic and New 52, the story is good, but predictable, and some plotholes are nitpicky with so many questions for how did they do that.

It may not has a successful box-office, its more like a moderate performance at best, but im sure im not the only one that I enjoy this movie for, again, bringing Superman back where he used to, compared to DCEU. Which is more likely that we gotta get used to be with DCU and wish for the best for more contents they’re giving us, like the upcoming Supergirl, and of course, they’re developing the sequel “Superman: Man of Tomorrow”.

Even though as I mentioned the beginning of Top 5 worst movies from last week, I mentioned before that, even though I support Superman 2025, but its nowhere safe when we have to dealing with the godawful tribalism, especially for DCEU/Snyderverse fans out there that they’re constantly attacking both this movie and the current state of DC Studios with conspiracies, predicting flops, harassment campaigns and the death threats…! Like, this is probably explained why I have a sympathy for the people who took the their time and effort to make a new one, while these “fans” just refuse to change that they’re constantly attacking them for “DCEU needs to going back and DCU can go to F(bleep)ing hell!”. Like im so sick and tired of these adult fans are acting like a bunch of crybabies, even DCU loyalists would rather telling them to shut up and move on. Im sick and tired of those tribalism BS…!

Sorry for my outburst, I just need to get off my chest everytime I’ve seen these on social media…

Anyway, even though its not 100% perfect as I was hoping, but I still enjoying it and give respect to the people who worked on this movie for the best is yet to come. Which is why Superman 2025 is my Number 1 Movie of the Year 2025.

Whew, now im done talking about 2025, im looking forward for new movies in 2026, even if I miss some like Iron Lung, but don’t worry, il save it later when its available on digital market, but im sorry to say, I won’t do my quick thoughts of upcoming movies, due to my time conflict from numerous movies of 225 I’ve been dealing with. Aw well.

But of course, got any other good movies in 2025 that I missed? Let me know in the comments bellow.

Thanks for reading, il catch you later when il starting review movies in 2026. but as always, im Anthony, signing out.

Top 5 WORST movies in 2025

WARNING: This countdown contains Strong Languages. Readers discretion is advised.

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to the countdown of movies of the year.

Well, even though its been two months, I think its safe to say that 2025… Was a complete jumbo, broken Fucking Mess! And I do mean everything feels like we’re in the world of CHAOS! Ranging from Dictator Pedo (aka Donald Trump) has somehow made a karma to be in 2nd term as US President to raising tariff to Fucking over the economy around the world, a leakage photos and infos about Jeff Epstein doomed from the start from Dictator’s desperation for gatekeeping, AI Slops is contaminating all over the world like COVID, ICE are using brutalities against innocent people for being told to “go back where you belong or die”, internet community is turning into a warzone of cultism like when hardcore fans of Panty and Stocking are attacking Vivziepop’s projects for their favoritism, and worst of all, governments in several countries are dangerously becoming Orwellian to manipulat their own people to check their IDs publicly (which hackers with breaching datas for ransom or takeover accounts) or be incarcerated. Meanwhile, as for my experience, its been a rough time for my personal problems, my drawings are losing my passion because I got too busy working on reviews (okay except for Inktober, its a fun time with the use of fountain ink), I kind of lost myself to hanging out with my friends, flood gives me PTSD since 2024 and overwhelming feeling from either overworked or even my fear of the future if we’re going into 1984.

Despite all the problems we’ve been through, when it comes to entertainment industry like movies, its a pretty nice year, other than the infestation of toxic internet community, but they are plenty of very nice films in my experience from curiosity to highly anticipation. But don’t get me wrong, we also been dealing from disappointments to ABSOLUTE FAILURE (Jimquisition style). But as always, im doing a two parts countdown, mainly the best movies and the worst movie list. But if you’ve read the title, im starting with the latter to looking back at the disappointing to shittiest movie I’ve seen. For this countdown, I gathered Five WORST movies I’ve ever watched, even though I miss some bad movies out there, but it didn’t matter, though I will add Dishonorable Mentions before Number 1.

So, get ready to looking back how I’ve been, because this is my “Top 5 WORST movies in 2025”.

Lets get started, shall we?

Number 5: Red Sonja 2025

We’re gonna start off with this film that has potential, but fell flat pretty disappointing.

After years of hell development, it was eventually prepared to having a standalone film based on Red Sonja comics for her journey to fighting against Dragan and evil barbarians for the sake of her lost kingdom from her traumatic childhood, ranging from free from slavery to fighting against them in the name of both humanity freedom and, again, for Hyrkania. It has some nice actions, the setting looks decent and some characters are okay.

But the reason why its on lower list, its because, despite the potential, it didn’t go that well with numerous problems like some lackluster development, a not-so bloody kills, some characters are either lackluster or some like Dragan are badly written or stupidly cliché. While Sonja’s main outfit aren’t as memorable nor beauty as the original comic version, but the CGs are either look alright or downright embarrassing like something out of PS3 graphic based on the quality or the animation.

This movie could’ve been great if they could’ve gave us a proper development, maybe have a brutality and even give Red Sonja a badass personality rather than being okay, but poorly executed. But to be fair, at least its better than the cringing 1985 version.

Number 4: FIXED

If anyone who grew up with cartoons in the 90s and 2000s, Genndy Tartakovsky is without a doubt the most note worthy creators to gave us some of his best and nostalgic animated shows back then like Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and even Star Wars: Clone Wars. Though he did gave us an appreciation modern shows he worked on like Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and the ongoing Primal (as im writing this). But being involved with movies? Not so much. But don’t get me wrong, he gave us Hotel Transylvania that its actually not bad (though I haven’t planning to see it), while the sequels, not so much.

When it comes to FIXED, it was a passion project that he wanted to get off the ground from almost two decades ago. As a result, he gave us… A not-so good adult animated movie that I was expecting for. The story about a dog Bull goes on a road-trip with other dog friends may sounds like a simple and fun concept, but the twist is that he wants to saving his nuts without getting, as the title implies, FIXED. It may sounds like a film about escapism to saving his little bitty you-know-whats for the sake of going out of his house from pet owner for adventure, but the problem is that it feels lost that it goes into weird journey to the city and chaos that Bull tries to save his testies. Which the movie focused on comedy and the point of view, they’re pretty 50/50 if they could work for the writing.

Even some of the characters are mid at best that some have a fun performance from voice actors and some have an okay characters like Rocco, Bull or even Honey, while the rest are just one-dimensional in attempt to execute the jokes, but again, the jokes are mid at best. And not to mention, even if its an R-Rated movie, it doesn’t feel so sleazy compared to Sausage Party, sure it has some violence and swearing, but it feels too much on crude jokes and sexual with dangling nutties.

Though in fairness, at least the animation looks pretty nice for 2D adult animated films. And as im writing this, I heard Genndy is working on another adult animated film called “Black Knight”, but as a 3D animated film with violence, which im looking forward to see it after the teaser.

Number 3: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

Ever since the first FNAF movie became a hit at the box-office thanks to the fandom’s long waited dream, its no stranger that with the money success, there’s always gotta be a sequel shortly after, which I had mixed feeling when I saw the first one that I find it to be okay at best.

But when this sequel came out… Ohhh boy, it was a letdown that I was kind of hoped for. The plot and the writing is a convoluted mess that we barely trying to connect, follow nor even understand its lore compared to the video game. While it does gave us the origin how the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria is a nice additional, but the rest feels like a mess that makes the story non-exist with no proper development, just having our main characters moved away, letting strangers getting killed and… This whole writing is disconnected from the get-go, even if they tried the best its about activating Toy Animatronics to dangerously break free, but again, its ruined from poorly executed for being adapted. Especially it also has some of the weakest kills in the movie, like probably even worse than the first one.

Though I know im being harsh for this movie, but there are few redeeming qualities that they tried to be something special and some okay development like the aforementioned origin, the animatronic designs, the voices of Toy Animatronics, the filming, the design set of the OG pizzeria, some good acting and an okay development on Vanessa. Il give credit that they’re trying, but alas, ruined from poorly executed result.

This movie is a major disappointment how they gave us. But I understand there are FNAF fans like this movie, that’s fine, but for me (along with some others), I called it a letdown. But its not has extremely cringe, such as…

Number 2: Happy Gilmore 2

Oh yeah, now we’re going down to the shitter…!

Before that, I enjoyed watching Happy Gilmore. Sure, its nowhere great as people said, but I enjoyed it for how fun, enjoyable this movie is back in the 90s, sure it can be ridiculous about a hockey player turned golfer with a massive swing from long yards to green, but it still great with fun humors, memorable characters and its one of those quotable film that I like from dialogues.

However, after decades of “won’t they/won’t they”, Adam Sandler and his team finally brought us the sequel that many fans are looking for, even if I was skeptical for the plan, though curious. But alas, I should’ve realized that not only its one of those “Be careful what you’re wishing for”, but its also because its a Happy Madison Films. Mainly when Adam Sandler wrote and occasionally direct movies that are nothing but both annoying, disgusting, desperate and unfunny, such as adults act like manchild, cheap-ass product placement, sorry excuse of celebrity cameos and a bunch of “jokes” that are so bad that I barely able to have a laugh nor even more than a single chuckle! Happy Gilmore 2 is one of those shitty ass Happy Madison Films…!

Sure, the plot is similar to the first movie, except Happy is gotta raise money for his daughter for her flight to Paris for her ballet career, by coming out of retirement to play golf like in his good’ol days, despite he’s depressed with drinking problem for being a widower when his wife Virginia was accidentally killed by a golf ball. It may sounds like the story old veteran coming out of retirement for not just a glory, but in the name of his family. Unfortunately, that’s all the is for the story, the story is completely unfocused that we’re forced ourselves to watching these so-called “comedy”, cause again, the jokes are just unfunny, immature, Fucking Mess from beginning to the end. Even if they’re adding subplots like PGA vs Maxi Tour, and some Easter Eggs for reminder from the first movie, its still not helping that all we watching is cringe after cringe that again, its not even funny when it used to, I was just frustrated and begging for the story than these desperate jokes…!

This movie is suffered the same way as another film that I covered “Space Jam: A New Legacy”, though in fairness, at least this sequel has some small redeeming quality that I like to give credit for trying, despite the disappointment, but Happy Gilmore 2 is a Fucking train wreck that it feels like too little too late for being a decades waited sequel, Easily the worst sequel I’ve ever seen for ruining one of my favorite film…!

Now before we’ll get the Number 1 WORST movie of the year, here are Dishonorable Mentions that they’re bad, but im gladly didn’t see them.

Snow White

Similar to Madame Web, this film is already doomed from the start how they presented the trailer of the live action remake of the very first animated film I’ve ever saw back in my youth (Yes, its my true story), it wasn’t just a controversial reshooting to having CG abomination on Seven Dwarfs, but rather a controversial casting choice of Snow White in a same way as The Little Mermaid. While Rachel Zegler is… Average for acting, but as a human being, she might the most moronic person ever. But don’t even get me started on Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen, cause I take it all back on her Wonder Woman role, her acting is now becoming a laughing stock that she can’t even deliver. God, its no wonder how this movie flopped at the box-office how embarrassing this movie is…!

Smurfs

After Sony let go those blue little guys, Paramount jumped in to do their own reboot of Smurfs, what they gave us instead is just like when Sony gave us, from bad casting choice to having a very bad voice acting, sorry-ass jokes and… Everything else is a broken down mess, especially when, much like Snow White, it was doomed from the start when we saw the trailer and coincidentally, it got disappointing result at the box-office.

A Minecraft Movie

I’ve made a rant about this movie that for some stupid reason, Jared Hess and the team gave us their take of Minecraft and… Good god, its the more eye-sore presentation for their realistic presentation in the world of Minecraft, and it wasn’t helping make unfunny jokes that I feel bad for both Jack Black and Jason Momoa for being involved. And don’t even get me started on “Chicken Jockey”, its a complete Fucking mess when the Gen Z clowns are disturbing the peace to watching this Piece of Shit…! And then they’re gonna make a sequel!? DAFUQ?!!?

And now… The Number One WORST movie in 2025 goes to…

Number 1: War of The Worlds 2025

Ohh my god…! Where do I Fucking begin…?!

First of all, you have H.G. Wells’s War of The Worlds, one the most iconic and the most inspirational novel for the concept of alien invasion in sci-fi genre, everybody knows that, Martians invading Earth for their threat with their advanced technology, simple is that, right?

Well, ever since its the most popular novel, its no stranger that its been adapted many times like George Pal or Steven Spielberg, they’re good, while some tried alright or badly… But then we have this version, instead of releasing it on theater, it came out on Amazon Prime Video and… After spend time to watching this and covered it from month again… It still Baffled me… For HOW FUCKING SHIT THIS MOVIE REALLY IS!!!

I get they wanna make something different when it comes to alien invasion story, but what they gave us is a FUCKING SHIT SHOW IT IS!!! I get they wanting to make something completely different for the plot about alien invasion, but its stupidly, badly, and poorly executed for their message about data collecting problem that it doesn’t feel like from the novel in comparison!

While the characters are badly written and generic, but good Fucking lord, the acting are just embarrassingly bad how they’ve put Ice Cube, Eva Longoria and Clark Gregg and couple others they’ve been, especially for the way they’re written, it just make them look very bad of acting for this rushed job, I feel bad for them to be involved with this Fucking Filth…!

But or course, the biggest eye-sore part of this is the god forsaken presentation that it looks like a free movie on YouTube than a streaming platform movie like Amazon, the quality effects and the designs are very bad that it looks even worse than Red Sonja’s CG, let along for a movie that was done in Screenlife. And of course, for a movie being developed in pandemic time, we all know alien invasion in the middle of pandemic is a very bad mix, especially it took 15 days to film, and the post-production was done for 2 Fucking years and THIS what they gave us, let along ripping us off to putting the bold name like War of The Worlds?!

NO!! NO FUCKING WAY! THIS IS NOT A WAR OF THE WORLDS MOVIE, ITS A GARBAGE ALIEN INVASION MOVIE TO RIPPING US OFF!! But its not a GOOD type of Garbage movie for this FUCKING SHIT!!

I HATE this movie because of misleading plot and the title! I HATE this movie because of very bad presentation with a very stupid development! I HATE this movie because they way the casts act are very bad that they deserve better! AND I HATE THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT FUCKING EXIST TO WASTING OUR FUCKING TIME!!!

FUCK THIS FUCKING SHIT, AND THAT IS WHY THIS IS THE NUMBER 1 WORST MOVIE IN 2025!

(take a deep breath)

Wow, I really need to calm down to catch a break for a week… But don’t worry, I promise I will get the good ones for the second and last part of my countdown…

Anyway, got any other worst movies in 2025 that I miss? Let me know in the comments bellow.

Top 9 BEST movies in 2024

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my Countdown.

Last time, I’ve done the list of WORST movies in 2024, ranging from hopeless spy that turns life imitates arts with not even former Superman saves it, a boring and missing story of Bob Marley’s life, a broken down musical movie with the infamous couple in the comic and of course, Sony has reaching all time low in disgrace.

But at the same time, it doesn’t meant this whole year sucks (Well okay, there’s Dictator Trump back to White House, but I digress), there are also plenty of good movies out there that I enjoy, despite dealing with some crap shows. As always, il do the countdown, but in the second and last part, I have 8 good movies that I’ve been experienced. Sure, I may have some movies that I forgot, but if you have some other best movies in 2024, let me know in the comments bellow.

So this is my Top 9 BEST movies in 2024. So lets get started, shall we?

Number 9: Moana 2

After years that we had one of the most beautiful well crafted film, Moana, and managed to becoming the most watched film on Disney+’s history, its no stranger that they’re going to cashing in from the success.

For this movie, its a fairly okay sequel we got, the animation looks pretty good for the first time Disney’s studio in Vancouver, the voice acting are good, especially with some welcoming return and the story is nice, especially I like the idea of Moana going to exploring to restoring the remaining civilization from mysterious sunken island before the eternal darkness from Nalo, il give a credit what they’re trying to developing the world building to finding the disappearing island in deserted ocean, which some people (myself included) like giving us the depth of Moana’s world, like Frozen 2.

BUT, the reason why its on lower list is that the writing, the characters and such others are pretty weak, which is why I considered it as one Disney’s weakest film in 2024. And what’s worse about Moana 2, it wasn’t supposed to be a movie. As I said before, it was originally meant to be a series exclusive on Disney+, hence why the writing in this movie feels so… Episodic at best to looking back. But instead, the Power that be in Disney Bob Iger, made a terrible decision to asking them to changing it into a movie to hopefully made more cash. I mean yes, the sequel made a box-office success, but again, because of episodic script, the movie just didn’t worked for the receptions, especially Disney should’ve learned their mistake after what they did with Belle's Magical World and Atlantis: Milo’s Return, but unlike those two (which they’re pretty bad), Moana 2 isn’t the worst sequel ever, its more like the weakest sequel.

But alas, it could’ve been worse when Disney are developing a live-action remake on Moana… God help us…!

Number 8: Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire

As a Kaiju fan, I always like to see an epic journey and battle with two iconic monsters in our lives like Godzilla and King Kong. In case for the sequel after their fighting, it may look like a promising journey, but not good enough elements what we like to see.

Having an exploration to Hollow Earth makes sense when we surprisingly saw in Godzilla V Kong, cause we like to see a further depth in this movie. Il give a credit for a split plot on Kong exploring to see if there’s more Titans in Hollow Earth and even humans seeing a the mute tribe, especially with a nice development on some tribes or even some Kaijus. Even the new Kaijus look promising and impressive looking, despite some of their one dimensional development.

But alas, the movie is suffered with splitting into three plots with the aforementioned Kong’s discovery and Humans’ exploration before meet the tribe, but there’s also Godzilla going on killing spree on other Titans to powering up, but worse, Godzilla is less focus compare to the humans team or Kong, since Godzilla is like a major star, but instead, the King of Kaiju is pretty much an afterthought while Kong is the main focus, maybe the same can be said for the humans, but its the writing could’ve gone better to giving us a proper development. Making it a good film, but almost boring.

Even though its nowhere greater Kaiju film in Monstervse, hopefully if things get interesting in the future for more Titans out there or not.

Number 7: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

After decades of sequels been thrown out, the news teams and Tim Burton were eventually opened to bringing back everyone’s favorite Bio-Exorcist from the grave with a long waited sequel for reuniting our familiar casts as well as the new ones.

Much like the previous film, the movie is one helluva trip with all those chaos and some fun humors, especially with the returning Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse to bringing back his comedic role, even if he’s gotten aged, but he’s still did a fun work, along with reuniting the Deetz family, which I find them both welcoming and descent, even the new casts like Jenna Ortega and even Willem Dafoe are both fascinating to see them in Burton’s films (unless you’ve seen Ortega as Wednesday Addams, which probably explain the connection between of two). Even the traditional effects and such are look both crazy and amazing work.

However, while I like the sequel, but like many sequels, its not as good as the original, the movie some of writing aren’t as perfect, such as nearly too much villains that we barely know who’s the main villain, even the main one like Dolores is lackluster, the double plot maybe good, but not a good execution and some are rather predictable from what we’ve guessed.

The first Beetlejuice is a classic and chaotic film that we enjoyed, but the sequel, it has its chaotic fashion, but the crazy ride aren’t as good that we expected for their long waited return.

Number 6: The Fall Guy

For a movie based on the show with the same name about a stunt actor doing a real action for the mission may sounds unique, but fascinating, even if I never seen the show how its been adapted into a movie.

The best way to describing to looking back is a soft action movie with a sorta mix of film making due to the search of a main actor and a conflict between stunt double and the director who’s an ex. Even though, again, im not familiar with the show, but il give a credit to be creative about a stunt actor is on a real action duty for the whereabouts of a main actor, even some of the jokes and writing are good too. Not to mention, even some of stunt scenes are pretty cool to watch, along with. some stunts managed to broke record from “Guinness World Record”

But the downside is that, while its fun, but the actions are soft, but again, its a PG movie, while the writing is good, but nowhere perfect with some characters are either having a minimal of appearance or just disappeared, not to mention, while I may like KISS’s “I was made for lovin’ you”, but its been overused over and over that I felt like I heard enough.

Even though it may not be my taste while looking back, but its for the best to be outside of Top 5. Speaking of which…

Number 5: Sonic The Hedgehog 3

If someone likes to “Live and Learn” with Sonic and Shadow, its definitely a worth of wait after the cliffhanger.

This movie goes into a double liberty to having two games, Sonic Adventures 2 and Shadow The Hedgehog into the story is sounds risky, but its actually a pretty well executed for action, the message of be respectful to working as a team with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles (a reference to Sonic Heroes), even if the its cliché for the obvious “The Power of Love and Friendship”, it has a fun action and of course, the story development is pretty good what they’ve accomplished, especially with, despite a slightly difference, but Shadow’s origin is both faithful and emotional much like in the game. Even some of acting and some jokes are pretty fun and entertaining.

While I considered Sonic 3 as a BIG improvement over the first two, but the movie could’ve gone perfect without from flaws, such as a pacing issues, some jokes are nearly forced with obvious pop culture references and one 4th wall breaking, but even the characters we have is nearly minimal that we nearly forgot on Wachowskis and an odd idea of Jim Carrey in double role, but in fairness, at least its nice to have a day and night difference on both Carrey’s characters.

While its not as perfect with flaws, but at least its very good Sonic movie what the fans and non-fans called it and worth of watching, along with hoping to see something interesting when Paramount was already start developing on Sonic 4. We’ll see how that goes.

Number 4: Deadpool and Wolverine

Like I always said, im more on-and-off person when it comes to MCU that I lost my touch on this franchise after the Infinity era, but I did enjoy some, and Deadpool and Wolverine is one of them. While im lost about the whole Multiverse parts in this era (due to being burnt out), I did enjoy this one, probably belong to my favorite next to Spider-Man: Now Way Home.

While the movie is all about Deadpool trying to saving himself when his home universe is on a verge of extinction, its more about either Deadpool trying to save his home universe when his main Wolverine was tragically killed off, meaning Deadpool’s home universe’s Wolverine is his anchor, which didn’t make any sense that maybe Deadpool can take the torch to keeping his world open, while also teaming up with a lone diabolical version of Wolverine to both saving the universe and dealing with both TVA and Cassandra Nova, its interesting, but either both dumb and complex, cause again, it would’ve been perfect for Deadpool takes the anchor’s torch, as he’s proclaimed as “Marvel Jesus”. Despite the complex and questionable element about Deadpool’s home universe, at least its actually a fun journey to having a dream duo. Even the cameos are also great to see with some characters that we’re familiar are back to reprising their roles like X-23 (aka Laura), Blade and even Elektra, even Channing Tatum’s dream as Gambit is also nice to see him after been scrapped. The action scenes are both enjoyable, and for the first time in MCU, pretty bloody to watch, especially with swearing (not the first time since Guardians of the Galaxy 3), and some fight scene is also funny to watch, especially I like to replaying it when I bought it digitally.

While its great and fun to watch for Deadpool’s worth of waiting, but if I have a downside for why its not in a podium, there are some issues that dealt with like the death of universe’s anchor that TVA are trying to wiping out, which again, Deadpool could’ve take the torch as a new anchor, but even there are some with good and fun jokes, but some could be weak.

Even though its not as greater than Deadpool 2, its a worth of watching after years of waiting to have a dream duo came true. But hey, maybe we would like to see Deadpool teaming up with Spider-Man for another crazy journey, and yet, im still waiting for MCU’s take on X-Men.

Number 3: Transformers One

After years to giving us those lame-ass live action Transformers, Paramount are eventually decided to moving on from this to bringing Transformers back to the old route, mainly, an animated feature film featuring Transformers, not only its an animated Transformers movie, but its also a full on origin story where did our familiar characters begin.

Its quite surprising and pretty good what they’ve accomplished for the origin with the chemistry of our heroes, exploring both inside and outside the city, it has some good humors that gave me a laugh and of course, the animation looks pretty impressive that it feels like a toys come to life in animation, the action scenes are both enjoyable and kinda brutal, but still fun. Even the story progress does get fascinating and kinda emotional what we’ve witnessed before the climatic battle on the third act, especially with characters been evolved.

While I enjoy the movie, but it suffered with issues for why it didn’t make on top, nor even giving a 9/10, its because while I like it, but not as perfect result, ranging from villain plot twist cliché, the first act is kinda messy and while I like the jokes, but some are are weak or forced. Not to mention, and sadly, the movie was flopped way too early, due to being sandwiched by major competitors like the aforementioned Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and another animated robot movie that we’ll get there. Its just a shame that it would’ve been great to have a sequel, but alas, because of the flop, Hasbro is no longer co-financing the future projects, instead, it leaves to external studios to funding the future projects. Yikes…

Aw well, even if the movie is sadly a flop, Il probably considered it as an underrated film that you guys should check it out.

Number 2: Inside Out 2

Huh, another number 2 film within number 2. BUT, its certainly better than the godawful Folie a Deux.

Anyway, after years of giving us some good to not-so great film, Pixar had a sequel plan of one of my favorite film back in 2015, Inside Out. And since we love the idea of imagining an emotional characters in our minds, its no surprising we like to see more, especially what happens next when we’re growing up like Riley. As a result, it worked out pretty good.

While the movie’s plot feels pretty much like the first film, but similar to other Pixar film Turning Red, this one goes what happened when our main emotions got themselves a red alert about Riley is having Puberty. But the difference is that we got ourselves a new emotions, even though, again, at the same time, reusing the same plot where our main emotions (this time, five of them) trying to get back to their headquarter while Anxiety is in full control, but very badly to control Riley. Like I said, despite it feels like the same plot, but the message is not just about dealing with puberty (twice since Turning Red), but also how not to be a fan without turning into a control freak that’ll going out of control. Of course, the imagination in our mind has grown that we like to see more, especially with well-done animation, cute, colorful and nice mix of animation with 2D and PS1 inspired graphic, which is like reflecting our childhood, even the characters and the voice performance are good too, even if there are two voiced been changed that I was iffy, but at least il give a credit what they’re trying.

Its no stranger a must-watched film from the start and even looking back on Disney+ (or buying physically) that, despite the flaws I have, but it still a great movie and it actually saved Pixar from their decline with a MAJOR hit at the box-office and today, this movie is now the Number 1 “Highest Grossing Animated Film” by far, and I can definitely see why many people loved to see it.

However, while I love this movie, but the movie is also suffered the elephant in the room that it might needs to be addressed, along with the reason why its on Number 2 on my list. Mainly, yet another successful sequel with a screw up business while making this movie. According to IGN in September 16, while this movie is a major hit, but several came out of closet to revealing the behind the scenes was anything but problematic, ranging from 14% employees were sacked out while making this movie, rewriting some elements to removing LGBTQ element (probably because of those Anti-Woke and homophobic cults what we’ve that Disney/Pixar were forced for all the wrong reasons) and couple reasons of this movie been into Crunch Time from Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, Pete Doctor, could be stubborn. But some of those are allegations, while the sacked out employees are too good to be true, but the rest, its dependable, since Disney refused to comment on those. It feels like we have a pattern since Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, they both well-received and big hits at the box-offices, but their working conditions were anything but, but again, those are allegations, meaning we don’t know if its true aside of business laid off.

Despite the allegations that Disney/Pixar refused to let us know (even if they’re pretty much anti-union since the making of Dumbo in the 1940s), but it still a great movie that I enjoy and of course, not only a must-watch, but also topped the record of highest grossing animated film, which it feels like a comeback from Pixar, lets hope when they’ll giving us something interesting in their future (aside their questionable working environment that this is a wake-up call to work properly).

But before we’ll get to the Number 1 of my best movie of the year, lets take a quick nominees that while they’re both got a lot of attention, but never had a chance to see for my limited reasons.

Wicked

For a movie based on a musical stage with the same name by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, and the novel by Gregory Maguire, this movie is basically the origin of The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz for how our main witch has become, which is like portraying a tragic origin, which is a fascinating idea, even if im not a hardcore fan of Wizard of Oz, despite I remember seeing the 1939’s The Wizard of Oz. And now we’re having a sequel shortly after Wicked? Already??

Piece by Piece

After WB passed Lego IP to Universal, we’re curious to see what we’re getting, the result is about Pharrell Williams’s sharing his origin for how he build up his career, hence the reference of Lego. While im not a fan of hip-hop or R&B like Pharrell, but it was quite surprising that not only its Universal’s first film in Lego, but also the more modern origin. But alas, Universal’s first Lego movie was unfortunately a bad start, due to being another victim of box-office bomb for another competition. Yikes…

Civil War

The unofficial Number 10 that I really wanted to do a review of this movie, but can’t since it plays almost like The Purge, but unlike The Purge, this one is about survival from a war between government and the secession in order to interviewing the president, I guess its not hard to see why this movie is well-received and a hit at the box-office, but considering this movie came out during my triple whammy of bad movies, I sadly missed it, despite it looks promising that, again, I wish I wanna see it in 2024. Aw well.

And

Alien: Romulus

Even though I never watch ANY Alien movies, ever since I’ve heard of it a lot much like Predator. This one bring Alien back to the old horror route after been exploited into action-horror, where this film takes place between the first Alien and Cameron’s Aliens, which I find it quite surprising from what I’ve heard. Even though I never see this movie, but my dad watched it on Disney+. While some people gave an appreciation of bringing back to the old route, but it could’ve make less too much of nostalgia (though only the fans would remember) and a poor excuse of CGI replica and deepfake AI of the late Ian Holm (which is something they really should’ve learn from Hollywood Labor Strike…!).

And now… The Number one best of movie in 2024 goes to…

Number 1: The Wild Robot

Need I say more for this amazingly beautiful film by Dreamworks?

After years of given us “How to train your Dragon”, Chris Sanders returned to DreamWorks for his own take of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, and as you may or may not know, this is DreamWorks’ final film for their animation in-house before working with the outsiders, cause DreamWorks is sadly in decline that they lost their money and laying off their employees, along with some of their studios closed (including Redwood division), like DreamWorks, again, working with third-party companies. Its just a shame, cause DreamWorks are the biggest name in the late 90s, millennium to 2010s when they gave us the best movies from Prince of Egypt, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and the aforementioned How to train your Dragon. But in case with The Wild Robot, it was like the redemption film for the studio’s sacrifice before moving into their current direction.

This movie is a big surprise that rather than a typical adventure with comedy, this one goes into a robot version of Cast Away, taking the simple book version seriously to have a robot discovering wildlife in the island and having a chemistry to learn how to be an adoptive mother of a baby goose Brightbill. While it has some humors that I like, but adventures and drama are the key focus of this movie, especially for giving us an emotional chemistry between ROZZUM and Brightbill from parental learning to loving adoptable family. Even though the story may sounds simple, but its a nice expansion for both the depth and the execution for not just learning how to be adoptive parent, but also learning what ROZZUM belongs to before been washed ashore from the storm, which is both surprised and also difficulty for her if she goes back to connect with nature.

But of course, what makes this movie even more emotionally amazing, its the animation, taking a similar 3D animation with a mix of 2D quality is not only impressive, but the background, the cinematography and the effect are both amazing and beautiful for what they’ve accomplished. Even the soundtrack is also beautifully well composed to fitting in from the beauty and the emotion.

But again, its just a shame that this DreamWorks’s final era what they are today, they’ve put hearts, souls and talents for this movie, cause I think they did an amazing job on this, though some may say its not as perfect, but I truly think it is, especially for being a must-watch film for both fans of DreamWorks films and even some new ones, its worth of checking out for both impressed the presentation, laugh at some good joke, burst into tears for emotional chemistry, and of course, a love and respect to DreamWorks before the end of their era, it is a perfect, beautifully emotional film to check it out.

And that is why The Wild Robot is my Number 1 BEST movie in 2024.

Whew, now we’re done with the movies in 2024, but like I said, I know I missed some that I skipped. But like always, got any other movies that I missed? Let me know in the comment section.

So il take a break of recent movie review to either doing a past review or even sharing my arts and fanfic. Though il make a quick thought on this year’s films later.

But as always, if you guys have your opinion or any suggestions, let me know at comment bellow and support me on KO-FI.com/blackevil.

Thanks for reading, and im Anthony, signing out, and il see you guys later at Movie Review 2025.
